Sort of a double post but I'm trying to get input from all the Northeast.
I'm guessing this might be a good place for my question.
We are leaving from Nevada soon for the Northeast in an RV.
Pretty much have the trip planned and are flexible on the dates. We have researched
the "peak" times for the fall colors in all of the states but do understand that weather
plays a part.
We plan on hitting the UP of Michigan then on to Niagara Falls then on to most if not all
the Northeast states.
Is there any indication that peak time may be earlier or later this year?
Thanks, Steve
I live in the Adirondacks and peak times vary.I would plan on a ride thru Lake Placid, Saranac Lake area. They peak in early Oct. Depends on the nights temps. Hope this was some help.
.
I live in Watkins glen NY and am looking out my window right now and see quite a few trees with changing leaves. I have not seen it this early in awhile.
I'm a few miles from Lake Placid right now & see only very few trees, probably the unhealthy ones, beginning to turn, < 1/1000 +/-?. The weather was strange here this summer, lots of rain, probably atypical foliage will be the result. Hard to predict the peak, but I agree w/JP13 & will suggest that the second week in October will show some good color.
Enjoy the trip; I sure would lke to pass you on my way to see Nevada.
The trees change at higher latitudes first.
I'd do those routes first and come back in lower latitudes.
Just a way to maximize the foliage in peak.
central Vt, NH and Me usually 2nd week of October.
