help me decide
I plan on going for a trip Memorial weekend. We have been looking at New Mexico/Colorado area, but have been told to go the other way to Arkansas Tennessee area. Anyone been in either area during end of May?
The weather for the areas will be a big factor.
Thanks for any input

I think there is a LOT more to see in the Colorado/Utah/Arizona area than Arkansas/Tennessee. I'm headed to CO/UT/AZ the first week of June, bypassing those other areas. Guess it depends on what you are looking for though. Trees/tourist towns/good roads/lots of people...go east. Interesting landscape in the form of plateaus/mountains/buttes/canyons and wide open spaces with not many people....go west. From KS you might want to consider Rocky Mountain Natl Park, Yellowstone and Tetons for a long weekend ride. Or just head down the continental divide. The Rockies are far more scenic than the Appalachians
Sounds like you have two nice options! I'd be happy with either one, then do the other next time (I just returned from Arizona and southern Utah). If it were *me* it's a little early (cool) for the higher elevations in Colorado so I'd do TN and Arkansas this time. Wherever you go avoid the tourist destinations. Such as Gatlinburg, Great Smokey NP, etc.
If you were east of Wichita I would say go east, but seeing as how you're west I would say to go west.3 day's isn't time to explore much of the ozarks after ridin' across most of Kansas.Check your map and look at going through Springer,New Mexico, then through taos, chama, then into Colorado to 160 and come back that way.If you do get over there be sure to take long john's,wolf creek pass sometime's still get's cold even in june.Watch for elk, deer ,antelope and most everything else with 4 leg's,it's all there.
