We're heading west on 8/5 for a 3 day round trip via
rt. 30 west and I was wondering if there are some must see places out towards Pittsburgh. Good bars....Scenery.....Roads....Food, perhaps. Should be around eight of us. Looking forward to it!
Thanks, Ken
Grew up in Philly area, but it's been a long time since traveled Rt 30.
Google a search for Route 30 or Lincoln Highway..
I do remember some old diners, attractions, why the road go where it does, old toll booths, etc
It does have alot of history
Example: Downingtown Diner ( I believe it's called Chef's Diner now) 81 West Lancaster Avenue Where Steve Mcqueen battled "The Blob"
A teapot coffee shop (Bedford)
Large Shoe ??
York Harley factory
Gettysburg
Beezewood (classic stop over)
Flight 93 memorial (Shanksville)
Good luck

On rt 30 out of Chambersburg stop at the mountain top bar, they cater to the bikers. and great food. I live about 50 mile west of the bar just off of 30 in the Bedford Pa area. Lots of covered bridges and great riding here couple state parks and lots of places to stay and good food.If you get in the area and have any trouble give me a shout, I have lots of tools and enclosed trailer if you would need a tow. This is good stuff, Clap...I've been to the Mountain top bar and that is on our hit list, That ham sandwich just made it to the list also. Walat's is in the GPS.
Before Walats you can see the Flight 93 memoial ( make a left off rt 30 at Highland tank) Then shoot over toward Sommerset and see the que creek mine rescue site) Then the ham sandwich. In pittsburgh hit the southside for a night I go to Brewskis on 8th and carson for beer.
