Me and a buddy started taking summer trips together a ffew years back and the group has slowly grown, 2 the first year 5 the second 13 last year and we are expecting 20+ this year. We are starting about 180km north of ottawa ontario Canada. We want a destination approx 6-7 hours south east ish...To give an idea it take 8.5 on free ways to get to Boston. We will ride a day, camp hotel etc, stay in the area for the following day riding and what not stay a second night and head home the following day. Any cool spots of the beated trail would be great to hear about. Thanks in advance for any hints.
Here's an idea, although it is not off the beaten trail; the Kitzhof Inn located in West Dover, Vermont.
The club I ride with has gone there for the past two years and we love it. We've already got plans in motion to return this year too.
The owners of the Inn are motorcyclists themselves (although not Harley riders) and are eager to invite other motorcyclists to partake in their hospitality and the wonderful roads surrounding them.
If you decide to stay at the Inn, they have a notebook of pre-planned local rides that you could look through and choose to follow. We did that the first year we stayed there and the ride was nice. Last year we decided to just venture out on a route that we planned ourselves and we had a great ride. Just be careful, some of the back roads in Vermont, although listed on maps as "major roads" may be dirt.
