Angry Syn3 vs Lucas
I changed from Syn3 to Lucas and now the oil light is on!!
Coincidence or Not.
Any thoughts ?

First off since this is your first post you should go to the new member area and introduce yourself first.

But since I am already here....


Changing brands of oil would not make an oil light come on, Yes there are small differences between brands but not enough for this to happen. I would change the oil again and see what it does. It is also possible that it is just a big coincidence..Year and model of bike would help

here's what HD has to say about the lamp coming on

Engine Oil Not Circulating (Oil Pressure Lamp Lit)
  1. Insufficient or diluted oil supply.
  2. Oil feed clogged with ice and sludge in freezing weather.
  3. Grounded oil signal switch wire or faulty signal switch. See dealer.
  4. Damaged or improperly installed check valve. See dealer.
  5. Oil pump problem. See dealer.
  6. Switching from SYN3 to Lucas Oil

After you changed your oil and let the engine cycle it for awhile, did you happen to check your oil level to see how full it was?

Yes and I have an oil press guage that reads 30psi warm.

Did you put the right weight oil in?? Thinner oil on an older bike might do it.
