I have file on my other phone I believe that actually stated the shear strength of oils. Rated at number seven on the list of over 100 oils tested, which I believe was 171,000 pounds of force is where the shear strength limit was for the Mobil 1 FS 0w40 which is the only oil that Corvette Chevrolet recommends in their ZL1 600 horse turbo motor. I'll have to find that independent study... This way I can put the 15w50 in it's right place..
And, 60Gunner, the link you posted does not have enough info in it to make the statement you made.. Who knows how that guys motor runs.. Did he make any engine mods? Does it run lean and hot? Does he even know how to tune a bike? Does he ride in hotter than normal ambient temps.. way to many variables to throw a dart at..
And stop taking **** so personally.. You manage to do it with a lot of people on this forum and it needs to stop... Thanks...
The ZL1 is a 650hp supercharged engine...........big difference
thanks.. I was just using the idea that GM only recommends the Mobil 1 FS oil in their high performance machines because of warranty.
That isnt the reason. GM has a contract with Mobil 1 (started with Dexos) for all of their factory lubricant fills. Just like Dodge (SRT) has a factory fill contract with Pennzoil (Mopar oil).
Any proper wt oil can meet the specifications (Mobil 1, Castrol, Motul, Pennzoil, Amsoil) its only when the oil company pays the manufacturer to endorse their product the name go on bottles and oil caps.
Remember this ANY quality proper spec new oil is better than the whatever best used old oil is.
Look, I'm trying to find out real info here.. So please keep your comments on the topi.

Sir, we have never had any disagreement between us, I was merely trying to throw a little humor into a subject that gets plenty of exposure
I can understand your trying to keep it on track/topic but your ' stupid" & "xxxx" are uncalled for.
FWIW, (As I've mentioned before,) My '00 FLTRSEI 95" Stage II,) now has 170,000 plus miles on it. There is still no need to top off between 5,000 mile oil changes and the cases (still) have not been split.
I've run Mobil One 15W-50 for at least the last 10 years or so. ( both in the bike and in my '85 Porsche 944,) with no issues thus far with either one.)
