amsoil vs mobile1

Some observations between HD Dino oil, Syn3, Amsoil and Mobile 1:
My '20 Road Glide Limited is just shy of 20k miles. I switched to Syn3 at the 1k service. Noticed immediately additional drivetrain noise compared to the oil the bike shipped with. At the 5K service, I switched to Amsoil Vtwin. Seemed to be a bit quieter than Syn3. Stayed with Amsoil until the 20k service. I noticed over time with Amsoil, drivetrain noise seemed to increase slightly, especially at startup with the lifter clatter but it would go away within 5-6 seconds as the lifters pumped up. Sometimes it would be loud as hell. At the 20k service, I decided to try Mobile1 Vtwin oil. I noticed a big difference in how quiet the drivetrain became. I think I got used to the sound with Amsoil. The engine is much more quiet and has a low muted burble when running. Note: I always use the same oil in all three holes and change them all at the same time.
I do a lot of long distance cross country riding at sustained speeds and have been happy with Amsoil. I think I got used to the drivetrain sound over time and didn't realize it until I switched to Mobile1. If there are no other differences and it stays this quiet, I might just stay with Mobile. Only time will tell. Just an observation from using all three. Not scientific, but I can feel and hear a difference.

I am still a faithful Amsoil user, but recently switched for the bike. The valvetrain noise was getting to me. Not a big deal, just noticeable. I switched to Lucas 20w50 Synthetic, and all is quiet.
I still firmly believe any good oil will serve you well, and I do prefer synthetics for their cold weather startup performance, but getting rid of some annoying sounds is definitely worth a change.

Currently running Amsoil 20w-50 in the engine, Amsoil tranny fluid I tranny, and Amsoil primary fluid.
Probably going to GL5 in the tranny, and 30 weight non- detergent in the primary.

Been using Mobile 1 15W-50 for years in my bike. Has 50K and runs like new. Original cam tensioners. (Use Formula + in transmission and primary since the high detergent is not really suited for a non-filtered box). All my cars since 2005 and all purchased new. Works great and I go by mileage, not time. Do all my own work. This is a CRV at 110K when I did the plugs (12 or so oil changes). The timing chain is dead on a no guide wear.
Five-quart bottle at Walmart. Don't sweat the small stuff. Running it in a 2016 Subie, a 2004 Tocama 4X4, A 2007 Civic with 180 K and a 2020 FIT. The only thing it won't work is my 93 Wrangler YJ. Has 320,000 and my in-frame rebuild. The pistons were at maximum wear and I let them slide. With it, it has a little piston slap that sounds like lifters. Works fine with 20-40 conventional oil.
And here is a deal on the stuff..

But of course im also a person who doesnt mind spending a few bucks on oil, and I tend to replace fluids before they absolutely have to be. I run 3k oil intervals for both the truck and the bike. Because I believe firmly in changing it out is better than trying to get the full useful life out of a lubricant. Also being an Amsoil preferred customer the price is very comparable if not less most of the time than buying fully synthetic oil options in the parts stores, with the added luxury of having the oil delivered straight to my house (with free shipping) and it usually arrives next day if I get my order in at a reasonable time.

On a different note, do people just listen to engine while in garage? I don't hear anything but exhaust or radio or wind when riding. Maybe I need an ear checkup?
