I used mobil 1 for for 5 years in my old bike because it was easy to get . Now I have been using amsoil for the last 6 years in my new bike. Both oils were fine had no problems. Point is I have learned as long as you use a quality motor oil and change it at the recommended intervals . You will have no problems. The name on the bottles is a personal choice... good luck to you . swifty...

when faced with such critical decisions like which oil to use I fall back on the fundamentals to make an educated choice

thank you so much on your response and you are absolutely right. I thought that maybe one or the other might or might not produce so much heat. What is your experience if any on recline for Trans and primary? Thank you once again

I've used Mobil 1 15W 50 for years in numerous bikes. Really great additive package, better than most so-called "motorcycle" oils. Walmart sells it for less than $24 for a FIVE qt. jug. After the Mobil 1 rebate. you get FIVE qts. of really good oil for about $2 a qt.

ditto!!
However, Mobil does not recommend for primary. Many do tho, I didn't.

Ok... on my old bike which was an American Iron horse outlaw . I used belray gear lube 85-140wfor the transmission, and belray chain case oil in primary. Every year I would change all my fluids just before thanksgiving and put her away until spring. The transmission plug would have a little grime on the magnet but the fluid always looked new . When I did the primary I would open my case the fluid looked dirty but my clutch and sprocket looked brand new like no wear at all.
With my new bike a 2014 heritage I have used amsoil motor oil for the engine. Transmission I use spectro 6 speed gear oil and spectro primary fluid. I have the exact same results. I have over 30.000 miles on my bike now .. Hope this helps swifty

I re read your post and i think you asked me about redline for the transmission. Red line makes some top rate oils. But Im not a fan of their shock proof line .. I like a fluid that I can remove easy if I had to

Primary? Walmart (Dino) 20W-50 at $2.89 qt. Mobil 15W-50 as above for the motor and at 170,000 miles (really!) it still doesn't need a top off between 5,000 mile oil changes. (Most importantly, I LOVE OIL Threads!)

I've used it all....AND I do mean all....I believe Amsoil is the best. And it's formulated for V-Twins. I've watched quite a few Evaluation and test videos and Amsoil ALWAYS beats Mobil 1. That being said, a lot of this forum have used Mobil 1 with Zero issues.
Take some time to watch some vids yourself. There are plenty of opinions to go around here.

There will probably be a few fistfights over this topic, it always brings out the little girls who like to whine a lot....
