This year I changed to Castrol 5/20 semi-synthetic. No more leaks.
Just out of curiosity, what exactly do you think was the cause of that particular chain of events...........
I personally have never heard that full Syn Oil causes leaks before, so this is new to me.

It`s because the oil is too slippery, it also causes bearings to skid...

Synthetic oil does not cause oil leaks; this old tale has been kicked around for decades.

This is the oil filter housing that was leaking oil during cooler weather with synthetic oil.
Cooler weather will cause the aluminum in the motor and housing to shrink, leaving less pressure on the O'rings.
Conventional oil thickens up more as it gets cooler then synthetic oil.
Thus on cold nights the synthetic oil will leak pass the O'rings yet conventional oil won't.
Like I said in my post. I wasn't a believer until I seen it myself.

Couldn`t possibly be due to a **** poor aluminum casting, or bad o ring.

hummmmmmm????
syn oil causes leaks????
why do corvettes not leak since gm factory fill them with syn when they first approved it for use!
advertising: in the beginning, you use to see a label that reads protects like so&so wt but yet pours like water, they did away with that since the general public could not grasp the concept due to years of prior beliefs.
i have never experienced the so called leak conspiracy. any oil can leave behind deposits according to way it was used, seals included. remember the base stocks??? the seals must be compatible and today's engine have a very high chance that they are. some oils clean better and can reach area that others cannot but a so called leak is not the oils fault, it is the failing of a component. a seal can groove a shaft but cleaned out can lead to a leak, oil fault or seal issue.
bearing skid,????, inconclusive data. syn oil is not slippery, matter of fact, it has a higher film strength reason why water like vis can protect like so&so wt.
the big issue is that engines evolve and lube needs to keep up. my honda oil severs more like an hydraulic than not with all the pressure applied gizmo's. the very reason why mfg's specify wt, take for instant the gm 4/6/8 setup. in the past they used solenoids to deactivate rockers, today they use oil pressure to pump up or bleed off the lifter stroke. hummmmm, use a heavier wt, yep you can but it also effect how the system works.
the ole saying is when you point a finger, there are 3 pointing back to you, hummmm, so who's at fault??????
