Default Oil temp vs head temp

05 Fatboy
I just installed Screamin Eagle II slip ons with no remap or changes. Stock air cleaner.Popular opinon seems to be if it runs OK and doesntpop excessivley its good. It pops occasionally but not bad.
I am watching the oil temp to see if it is running lean and hot. Oil temp stays at 230-240 on a 90 degree day.
If the head temp is too hot, will that also show up as increased oil temp or no?
Does anyone make a head temp gage?

Yes, they make gauges. Oil temp will rise if heads are running too hot but a plug reading would be a better option. Also, watch out for pre ignition especially when climbing a hill or accellerating hard. The poping could also be from a leak at the head pipe from the motor, at the junction of the muffler or just too open a pipe. I would get a low restriction ac and a fuel management system if fuel injected or re jet if not. The ac will make a much bigger difference in power as the exhaust is limited by the stock ac flow.

What does pre ignition sound like?
Bike runs good under hard acceleration and only pops on decel and very seldom on a throttle blip at the light.
I dont really want to change out the AC. Just looking for it to sound right and it does now.
Any ideas on where to get a head temp gage?
Thanks MikeM

Here's one source for that gauge BUT , lol,a fuel processor or re jet on a carbed bike would be cheaper and actually make it run better.
