Sorry if this has been done before but I just learned of this study and ordered a copy of it through myAmsoil dealer. Figured I'd look for a link and post it here: http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g2156.pdf
Anyway, take it with a grain of salt...it was an 'independent' lab's study commisioned by Amsoil that included several tests that are suppose to be critical to oil performance. What makes me think it may have some value is the fact that Amsoil didn'tfinish at the top in all tests. Then again, that could be by design to fool us... But hey, they had the test notarized by an official notary public so it must be the truth, right?
Either way, I'm not a dealer and am not associated with the company at all...I'm just ahappy user oftheir product. I do wish it was sold in a more conventional way though.

As soon as I ride around on 4 metal ***** I'll start worrying about their tests.
Here's another one that's NOT done by an oil manufacturer:
BTW,did you notice how well Amsoil did in this non manufacturer test?
Why I'll be! Did you notice the author of the test?
I am "lightened up". I find knowledge enlightening.
Nope breezed right past it to the meaty stuff. If you're gonna gripe about Amsoil doing their own test, the least you can do is preface who did the test you're touting.

Heh, if you think this is arrogant ... man ... I dunno how the rest of your online experience will be. Try to read it as if someone was next to you in a bar, maybe flipping you a little **** as men do sometimes.
The paper was not written in any manner in which my qualifications as anything (save as that of an editor) comes into play. The qualifications of the contributing sources are well documented. I guess that's what is different between this (and other sources of real data) and what Amsoil provides. It makes sense - if you want to know which car is better you don't go to Toyota and ask them.
My intent is not, nor was it ever, to convince anyone to use a particular brand. The intent was to show that independant analysis is possible and practical, and that real, unbiased information is available.
