Default Primary Level

This is a bit of continuation frommy earlier post. In making sure the fluids are at the appropriate level in the primary, namely just above the edge of the clutch pack circumference, Icut a strip ofstiff paper to the radius of the clutch pack in order to measure if the oil is above the circumference line. I place the one end on the adjuster screw and hang the strip down into the oil. My question, short of trusting the amount poured in based on the bottle gauge, are there other tips of how to make sure you have the right amont of fluids in the primary? I developed this method after straining to use a flashlight and look into the derby cover hole. How silly was that [:-]?

There's nothing really silly about using a flashlight, after all light is reflected off of oil. My usual method is to simply lean the bike to the left until I can see the fluid. If I can't see it when the bike is upright, it isn't full since I can plainly see the bottom of the clutch pack through the derby cover.
