Default Dyna Oil Filter Relocation

As part of the sheetmetal changeover I did this summer, I find it necessary to relocate my voltage regulator, which also means I'm looking into moving the oil filter from its stock location. Short explanation, a small flare at the lower edge of my new front fender contacts the regulator on hard bumps and potholes. I've looked all over here and the Internet on anyone who has either made or done a voltage regulator and/or oil filter relocation with no success. If I can move the filter out of the way, I can fabricate a bracket to allow me to move the regulator back and out of the way of the fender.

If anyone's seen this done or has done it themselves, I'd appreciate any input. I can't be the only one who's ever wanted to do this to a Twin Cam.

I wouldn't move the oil filter. I would first try moving the VR up the frame a few inches and maybe even on the inside of the frame but watch the possible effects of getting too close to the exhaust from the front cylider. You might consider turning it vertically as well and moving itfurther up. If it looks bad try a chrome cover on it.But also consider how much you might be blocking airflow to the front jug. Moving it down the frame in front of the motor mount may alsogive you the clearance you need and not restrict airflow. But you don't want it closer to the engine or you will cook that sucker when stopped and on idle. Then you will have all kinds of erratic issues when it overheats.

Another idea might be is to get one of those plastic front lower frame spoilers that they have for the SE bikes and custom cut louveres or a make a screencooling "grille" and hide the VR in there. Just make sure there is enough air flow to cool it.

Another idea might be 1" or 2" longer tubes for the forks. Just enough to get some extra clearance.

Here's a couple links to check out.

The last one fits a Yamaha but uses Harley filters, maybe change out the connections to fit the harley?
