This question is in regards to a previous post I posted in Feb. I had rode to GA from NCand when I got back, there was oil around the spark plug (where the plug inserts to the jug). Thanks to those who responed with suggestions. The question I have is, there is noticeable oil around the threads, I have tightened them down and have spare ones on hand to swap out if problem persist, but is it possible the gasket is faulty and I am burning oil? I have noticed black smoke on start up until I shut the enrichner off. Enough to leave black on the chrome. (I do understand the fact the enrichner does just that, and that richer mixcan produceblack smoke)I have also checked the oil, after riding a bit to warm, and there is barely oil on the dipstick. Any thougths? The bike is an 05 dyna low with an S&S super shorty, stock pipes w/out stock mufflers but do have baffles in them. I don't won't to tear the engine out with out making sure I have too, becauseotherwise, it runs fine. Thanks to all in advance.

Valve guide seals if you have oil on the plug threads inside the engine. If you have oil on the outside check the rocker box cover gaskets. Do a search on it. The 05' TC88's were plagued by a different valve guide seal being used. I don't know if yours has the same but I think there was a TSB or recall on them. Before you do anything talk to 2 or 3 dealers and see if this was covered by recall. You may be entitled to a free fix. Worth asking IMO.
