FWIW. I just had the same problem on my 05 heritage classic. I have the book but guess looking at the picture and trying to determine the location and "view" of the picture caused some brain damage. So, after hooking up an pipe extension I got that little allen wrench screw loose and out. Drained about 6 ounces of tranny fluid. Manual says takes about 24 oz to fill....brain damage and all this didn't seem right.
After reorienting my manual, moving my nice new shiny sears aluminum bike lift (which just happened to be covering the right plug) and getting my head directly under the bike I found the "REAL" drain plug....located between to dual shocks closer to the back wheel. All the fluid drained this time, and the book is right. Took 24 oz to fill. I still need to get some locktite, jb super weld or whatever they put that little drain plug in with. Glad I didn't crack the bottom of the case during this little learning experiment. And my craftman allen wrench didn't break either....so there.
