Just cause the local HD stealer charges $80 per hr. Don't mean chit..
What you get is a $6.hr guy just outta school practicing on yer ride..

Do Yer own Services. & keep all records, on this I agree with KBFXDL

And I would NOT recommend Hd syn 3 to anyone. Much better choices.

Dealers have been intimidating new owners for long time now.. It's BS !!!

The dealers you talked to are misinformed. With what you are paying for Syn3 there are much better choices. Amsoill , Redline and Mobil 1 Vtwin. I've heard that Syn3 is actually just a synthetic-blend. If none of these were available I personally would not hesitate to use Mobil 1 15w-50 which has a higher anti-wear additive package than a lower viscosity auto synthetic. I'm sure that there are quite a few on this forum that use 15w-50. At my 1000 mile service had dealer put Syn3 in all 3 holes. At 2000 I put Mobil 1 Vtwin in engine, Mobil 1 syn atf in primary and Mobil 1 syn 75w-140 in trans. I've been using this combination for about 5k now. What a huge difference!!! Buy a service manual and do it yourself. It's too easy and at least you'll know it's done right.

Harley Oils are good oils. Almost all oils available today are "good" oils.

The main problem with HD oil (IF you discount the Hugo Chavez' Venezuelan origin) is the price.

The nearest comparison I can think of is paying as much for a Chevy or Ford as you would for a much nicer Caddy or Lincoln. I could have said Mercedes or BMW but trying to keep it all American in these tough times. Oh yeah, HD Oils are NOT very American. In fact, IMHO, they are anti-American!

While the actual oil source may be countries we would rather not deal with, in the case of CITGO, the oil company itself is Venezuelan unlike other large companies which are mostly American or British or Dutch. HD 360 is re-labeled Citgo Oil brought to you by his hatefulship!
