engine oil leak

engine oil leak
I removed the crankshaft pulley and the alternator rotor. Engine oil is leaking out through the splines on the crankshaft. I had the same problem with an S&S engine. This engine is an Ultima. What is causing this and how can it be stopped. Thanks.

+1 on the seal. Make sure you make a note of the orientation because I have seen guys put them in backwards and they will run for a short while then usually leak. Check the bearing as well. When you have it apart before you remove the bearing pull up and down on the shaft and see if any oil squeezes out between the bearing and the case. (if it does it means you have a case issue or incorrect fitment).
If it were me I would replace the bearing and be sure to check the shaft for any scoring.
