Hello. A point replacing all primary components I have discovered an oil seal leak suspected seal replaced the oil seal with replacement new oem and it appears to be leaking out of the spines on the crank shaft on the clutch side of the engine the crank space are behind that oil seal seems to be an OK condition upon reassembly did we miss anything is there a micro fish or assembly diagram showing which seals and what order everything goes on? It is a 1976 superglide shovel chain primary.
the seals race it rides on - on the inside as it sits against the bearing its grooved out you need to picture the back side to confirm
what would be the fix If it 86 s grooved? Normally would not be an issue seeing how the syt atm is looped all the de same oil. But building the bike we separated the engine oil from primary .
Should there be bearing gasket crank spacer crank swal? I cannot find a microfiche
it was loose and its been ground away and now it does not sit flat - replace it if its grooved
I'll have to find a microfiche. K dont remember seeing a race. On I seen was a bearing then spacer slid on then the seal I'm new to the mechanical aspects of a Harley.
The spacer seals against the bearing thrust face - metal to metal - when you torque down the compensator it seals - but not completely - if you read some of the older belt drive instructions it will say to push RTV into the spline grooves prior to final assembly b/c the metal to metal seal is not always good - the rear of the spacer can also get damaged - then it always leaks badly - I think this is what John is talking about - but you may not have a problem - the oil may be just leaking out there b/c you do not have the spacer torqued down against the bearing
there is no other part besides the spacer and the seal that fit against the bearing - microfiche???? man - I have not seen **** like that in 20 years - most guys I deal with dont even know WTF that is
