Default Oil Return Line

Can anyone tell me on my 98 Fatboy which of the two lines going into the bottom of the oil tank in the return line. The one closest to you when looking directly at the tank, or the one behind it? I'm going to try to scavenge on the next change.

closest is the return line. Better look closer, there are three lines. If you have rubber hoses with clamps instead of the chrome tubes for oil lines, I don't know if you can pull that off without the oil tank draining. If you watch that scavenging video, the chrome line comes in near the top, where yours with the rubber hose is in the bottom of the tank. If there is a tube inside the tank that goes above the oil or not, I don't know. Let me know what happens, I was too scert to pull mine off my 98 softtail custom.

Thanks for the info. I noticed that on the video as well. Since I'm switching over oil I just want to get as much of the old oil out as possible.
