Last Saturday I helped my friend do his 10k service on his RK. He insisted that being he's using Amsoil and paying a premium price for the ability to go 10k between oil changes he's gonna get his moneys worth from that oil.He changed the trans and primary as they were unknown brand . He rides alot mostly highway. Anyone else think that way?.,,
I use Amsoil as well I went 8500 mi and had the oil tested at Wheller oil labs. The results were amazing, the results were posted on this web site back in 08. As a result I change my oil around 8000 mi. I now have 40K on my bike with no issues and it hasn't burned any oil.

I feel sorry for the poor sap that gets your bike when you trade it in.

Dynarule, you sound like a guy that doesn't do his research before he opens his mouth,my oil was professionally tested it had no wear, no viscosity breakdown, nor did it have any metallic contamination. That tells me the oil was in great shape at 8500 miles.I could send you the test sheet but you probably wouldn't know what your looking at.

i go 5000 on the motor and primary and 10000 on the tranny use synthetic on both
with no more metal shavings since i changed to synthetic a good synthetic anyways
ride safe
If you use a good synthetic gear oil in the trans you can go 20,000 easily. I use Redline SHockproof Heavy and will run it 20-25,000 miles or 2-3 years. I inspect the condition of the oil for water intrusion but your trans can go a long time on syn oil since it doesn't create any combustion by products.
