$58 seems like a lot, but well worth $$. I priced one out from both C-HD & Zanotti and the shipping co$t made it only a few $$$ difference, so it is a wash.

I made the the switch to Mobil 1 15w50 and still use the HD stuff (formula+) in the primary and the old Semi-Syn trans fluid (while you can still find it). When that is gone then I will prolly make the switch to Mobil 1 75-90 gear lube. I change it ALL evry 5k. Put 70k on a 2002 SERK w/o a problem that was oil related.

Buy the manual, you won't regret spending the $$.

First oil change after buying a used Harley? Change everything, and sump it.

You might want to have an oil analysis done on the old oil. http://www.blackstone-labs.com/motorcycle.html Their standard analysis is only $20 bucks and they have tailored the test expecially for motorcycles. I ordered my test collection kit today.

I just went with Mobile V-Twin 20w-50 for my 2006 FXDLI. Dumped the Syn 3 out of both holes. The Transmission got Mobile Synthetic 75/90. Just too much damn noise with the syn3. And noise means wear.

I got my service manual on ebay. Cost me about $45, but Zanotti's has good prices as well.

Enjoy your ride.

Got my manual today also . I`m putting Mobil one VTwin 20w\50 oil in the Oil Tank & primary. Here`s what I have read so far, remove oil plug from the Tank drain, let it drain out then remove the filter, clean everything & inspect , install the new filter and add 3 qts. run engine for 5 min or so & then check oil level for correct amount. I couldnt find 75\90 gear oil by mobil so I picked up some REVTECH 80\90. So far does everything sound OK to you guys as to the oils I`m using and the location of each? I havnt changed anything yet, studying a bit before I do anything. I Have a Manual WOOOHOOOO!!!!! Now if I could learn to read!!! LOL.. thxs gents, things would be Scary without your support.

If you go to Autozone and they don't have the Mobil1 75w90 just ask them and they will order it. But the Rev Tech should be fine as any gear oil will shear down less than motor oil in the trans. Now get yourself a torque wrench
