Default oil for o8 street bob?

I bought my harley street bob 2 months before riding season ended here in the midwest. I am a do it yourself person, but I bought the bike without the owners manual. My questions are what weight/type of oil should I use and what other maintenance do I have to perform to get riding again. Also, for the experience harley owners any recommendations on brand of oil should I use, I keep hearing AMSOIL

Any of the 20w50 synthetics for the engine are fine.

Amsoil
Mobil1Vtwin
Redline (after 3000 miles)
HD Syn3
Spectro

For the primary chaincase:

HD Formula +
Synthetic ATF
HD SYn3 20w50
Mobil1Vtwin 20w50
Amsoil 20w50
Redline MTL

For the transmission:

Mobil1 75w90 or 75w140 gear oil
Amsoil 75w110 or 75w140 SVG
Redline SHockproof Heavy 75w250
Belray 85w140 gear saver

Make sure you keep a log with dates and mileage and receipts for all oil changes for your warranty. Plus I would highly recommend you buy a HD factory service manual. They are about $60 but are very complete and outline very clearly all of the procedures.

I use redline products thet I but here : www.myoilshop.com but I broke my bike in on HD syn3 .

Ride safe.

BTW, you need to change all fluids and do a critical fasteners check at 1000 miles. Very important to keep your warranty valid.

thanks for the info...... I have no warranty on the bike, reason is I bought it at auction as a bank repo. I had it inspected by a friend of mine before I bought it, but he is hardcore TRIUMPH rider, so i wanted to get the correct info from hardcore HARLEY owners.

You do not have to go with a synthetic oil if you do not want the added cost of the synthetic oil over conventional. Conventional oil will work and has been working in internal combustion engines for 100 years. You will need the manual for capacities any ways so get yourself one as you are a do-it-yourself guy. I'm not advocating one type or brand of oil over any other just saying conv oil is more than ok for your bike.

Go on the HD website and get the customer service hotline number. Call them and give then your vin number and ask for the date you bike was put "in service " and what dealer. Then call that dealer and see if the 1000 miles service was done. You have a 2 year unlimited transferrable warranty on the bike. During this period you can also buy an extended warranty if you desire.

Repo should not make any difference.
