Amsoil in high mileage bike?

Amsoil in high mileage bike?
What is the forums opinion on changing to synthetic amsoil on a high mileage bike? My cop bike was in service through 39K miles (Colarado State Trooper). I am getting ready to roll over 50K miles now and would like to go synthetic.

What I can tell you as an AMSOIL Direct Dealer and having had many conversations with our technical support. The only pre requisite for changing to Synthetic is that the engine be in good mechanical condition and not leaking. Obviously if you are burning or leaking oli you will be wasting your money.

funny you should mention it. i met a rider yesterday with 455,000 miles on a shovelhead flt. he said he has only had 2 top ends and one bottom and has only ever used amsoil. go figure. but thats all i use.

As long as your bike doesn't leak you should be fine. However, synthetic oils have a more detergent like quality and will scrub off any dirt or sludge that may be plugging a leaking seal. Plus they leak in a capillary action way which will find even the smallest void and seep out. So, if you have no leaks and have been changing your oil per the book you should be ok. If not, I wouldn't change. My $.02.

Call Amsoil themselves & ask to speak to a Tech. I know in a diesel pickup if you have high mileage they tell you to use some kind of cleaner in the engine for so many miles befor switching. I use Amsoil in all my vehicles. over 500,000 in one truck 35000 in my bike.
