When to winterizie?
Under what conditions is winterizing the bike necessary? I live in Texas, so it doesn't get below 30 except for a few weeks, and we can ride virtually 11 months a year. I don't plan on putting the bike in storage for a long period of time so I assume winterizing isn't necessary, just keep up normal service intervals right?

If my bike was only gonna sit for a month(I wish, more like 4 months in my neck of the woods) i prob change the oil, if the current oil has more than 500 mi on it. If you have a bat tender i might stick that on too. Just my 2 cents.

As long as you don't let the bike sit for more than 3-4 weeks you should be fine. Once you ride more than 20 miles you cook off the moisture and fuel dilution in the oil which is what aids corrosion inside the engine. But if you have over 3000 miles on the oil going into Winter I would change it. Less than that and if you are using a good synthetic your TBN should be high enough to protect the engine. You need not worry about the trans or primary as they don't get combustion by products contaminating the oil. I ride all year here in Cleveland and usually do at least 1-2 50 mile trips per month.
