I ride an 06 883 low, clocked 1000 miles on it about a month ago took it in for its service like a good boy, brought it home and parked it for a a while, (inclimate weather) then it warmed up so I did what anyone would do, went for a good long ride. I got home and oil all over the pipes, and all over the oil tank cover, and in the air cleaner assmebly. Did the dealer's flavor of the month oil change tech screw it up and put too much in? Thanks for any responses.

Blowby in the air cleaner. Sometimes caused by over filling the oil tank. But not ALWAYS!!! See the Sportster forum. PLENTY of discussion about this topic on there. I also ride an 06 883L and have been trying to resolve this issue for months!! I think I have it fixed now. I went to the screamin eagle air cleaner, cycle shack slip on mufflers and rejetted the carb. Need a couple of thousand miles to see if that really fixed the problem. I think it will stock setup is designed to "mist" oil into the air cleaner. By design, that oil "mist" should be sucked into the carb and burned. Obviously that always isn't the case. The screamin eagle backplate redirects that oil "mist" directly into the mouth of the carb, instead of just into the cavity of the air filter.
