Default Wtf

My wife took her 2003 Low Rider to the local HD dealer for 30,000 service, before going on a St Paul, Mn trip. Less than 60 mi up the road, the 88 started sucking oil thru the new breather. Oil OVERFILLED. There was a HD shop and they got it right in (as dealers should for travelers), anyway they checked it, new breather, rode tested it, same problem, now being called a leak that they can't figure where it is.........By now Julie (wife) is homicidal!! To make a long story short, Julie drove our gas guzzling Jeep to Minnesota, local dealer, hauled bike to shop. This happened Saturday, dealer closed until tuesday, and already saying they have to tear into engine to locate so called leak and not owning up to overfilling engine oil, I'm livid and will be there at opening armed for bear. Unbelievable???????!!

To make a long story short
Too late for that, you whined too long already...

Suicidal, Livid and armed for bear....give me a break...

Make sure you know what the issue is before ranting that someone is at fault.

If you know so much, why is a dealer doing routine maintenance on your bike in the first place?

Maybe this forum needs a Whiners section.

No. Not only believable, but unfortunately, often expected. After my first service, I pulled the oil stick and nothing registered. It took another quart before bike was filled properly. I refused to move the bike 1 foot, called manager, etc. They (many, not all, should be NONE) really don't care.

I foresee cases of Amsoil or Red Line and a bike lift in your near future...

For what it's worth, welcome aboard.

While there is no excuse for shoddy work, I think the old adage applies: "if you want something done right do it yourself." I gave up long ago trying to get quality work for my truck, house, etc. Been working on the bike and cars myself for years. Every once in awhile it is nice to get a second set of eyes, however.
And. let's face it - oil changes on a H-D is pretty darn simple. Gives you a chance to spend a little time cleaning nooks and crannies, too.
