tight oil filter
Well I finally got my filter loose on my shovel head. It was so tight I bent 3 nice band filter wrenches. bought a lisiel with steel jaws bent it, popped a rubber strap wrench. Ended up using 2 wrenches at once, a steel band with a 3/8 ratchet along with a nylon strap wrench with a 1/2 ratchet. It was TIGHT. I know some of you would say drive a screwdriver through it. Well there's no room and I was afraid that it would just rip open like a can opener, it was that tight

My shovel had an internal filter, inside the oil tank, I take it yours has an external tin cartridge? My Evo has one, behind the trans, and the only way I have found that gets it off is indeed a large screw driver and big hammer! That hasn't failed me yet, in over 20 years.

mine's like yours behind the tranny. there is no way I could get a screw driver in there much less it was so tight I was afraid the if I did some how drive one in there it would just rip it apart. the 2 wrenches I used at the same time had extensions to bring them below the frame where I could put cheaters on both. It still collapsed the filter. I've worked on lots of engines in my life and never before had one that tight
