I use the rottela 5w-40 synthetic in my race atvs and all lawn equipment and my f250 diesel of course. Make a huge difference in starting ability in cold weather vs. the 15-40 non-sys rottela. I have not used it in the bike though. Ill pay the extra for mobil v-twin and change it every 5000. This oil was designed especially for the harley and mobil one has a bullet proof reputaion.
What is the specific reason not to use either of these oils in the primary? To my knowledge, Rotella does not contain any fricition modifiers to affect the clutch (don't know about Havoline). Elaborate on your reason please. Thanks.
I just like a thinner synthetic oil in the primary so the clutch doesn't drag when it is cold. Redline MTL seems to be about the best because it pours like a 5 or 10 w oil when cold. And where I live it is cold most of the time.
