Default Chaincase Drain Plug Leak

Have a 2009 Road King that's developed what looks to be a leak from the chaincase drain plug. I've looked at it and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I tightened it up the time before the last time I rode (rode it this Saturday, had tightened the plug about week ago but didn't ride any).

I'm going to do an oil change real soon and will of course replace the o-rings, the chaincase port rubber gasket (the large hole next to your left heel), as well as doing the engine and tranny refresh (it's at 30K miles).

I've looked around the forums but haven't found anything that really helps (yes, I found topics, but not really helpful).

So, a question would be would it be worth the trouble to replace the gasket on the main housing? Can't say that's the leak as it really does look like the drain plug. Also just looking for what others might have encountered that's related. I don't think the plug got crossed threaded as it went back on just fine the last time. Maybe the o-ring just gives up the ghost after awhile?? I didn't over torque it and the leak took close to 10K miles to develop. I last changed the chaincase oil at 20K miles.

I hate oil leaks. Thanks for any recommendations/observations/insight or supporting commentary.

It could be that the rubber seal has broken. Get a new one and be sure to not over tighten.

Also get a small mirror, and look at the back of the inner primary to be sure the inner primary seal isn't leaking. If it is, it tends to run down the back of the inner primary, and drip from the drain plug area.
