Still hurts like hell but it’s only been 18 days. Still on PT every other day and getting more reps in everyday past what therapist has me do. TSR was a cakewalk compared to the knee. Gotta be tough if you’re going to be old.

7 weeks or so today. Was going to take my first ride in two months. Dr says to hammer on my knee with iso machines and weights. Feeling better by the day. My PT therapist sadistic young lady that’s pushing me to gain strength. Workouts have really helped my back also. A good ride will tell me I believe.

Well I’m saying the pain and hard work thru PT and self workouts I’m saying it was all worth it. Is it as good as new, no but I’m 71 and pain free. I ride the bikes and back at work. PT is the key to a good recovery. Modern medicine is great.

It's been a bit over 2 years since my knee replacement and I finally felt strong enough to begin cycling again.
I was off the bike for over 4 years due to the injury and then the recovery.
I started out slowly a few months ago, riding ~15 miles a few times a week.
Now I've worked my way back up to 4-5 days a week and have even bested my 2019 record for this route.

Stay active. Good luck with your recovery and return to 'normal'...

Found this thread & I'm wondering how you feel this far out? I'm soon-to-be 61 and will be having total replacements...1 in April & 1 in July. I've been bone on bone since 2017. The x-rays looked so bad one of the first things the ortho nurse said to me she felt sorry for me. lol. I have plenty of arthritis & each knee has new bone growing she said, from all the bone on bone action. I've resigned myself to not riding at all this year, but this needs to get done.

Left knee three years post op and the right knee is two years post op. I was back riding eight to ten weeks after each of them. I'm now 73 years old. Don't wait as long as I did.

Ditto what footprints says. I’m 71 still working because I want to. Pretty much pain free after rehabilitation for several months. I’m a superintendent for a commercial concrete contractor. Rough uneven ground walking on rebar about every day. 10 to 15 k steps daily. Best move I’ve made with surgery so far.
Total shoulder replacement two years ago May. Go for it and don’t look back. I still do a lot of the exercises they had me doing in PT and ride stationary bike 4-5 times a week. Not going to mislead you the first 3 weeks hurts but PT is a savior. Good luck with the surgery and let us know how it’s going.
