RE: Copper Canyon
Not yet, but leaving for Creel on the 29th of this month. Crossing at Agua Prieta and riding the Rio Sonora down to Hermosillo. Taking Highway 16 across the Sierra Madres to Creel for a couple of days, then across to Chihuahua and back up thru El Paso. I live a little east of Amarillo, Tx. Will be a nice ride. I've been to Sonora before, so not a newbie.

Okay, it's a done deal. The Route of the Rio Sonora was wonderful. From Hermosillo to Chihuahua state line was very hard. Mex 16 thru there is a very bad road. Twists and curves all the way. Got much better when crossing over to Chihuahua. Creel, Divisadero and area were awesome. Great riding. If you want to go, cross over at Juarez and take the toll road to Chihuahua City, then Mex 16 to the Creel turnoff. Much faster, and better roads. You will still see some very pretty country. I had wanted to ride all the way across the Sierra Madres. I did it, will not do it again. Spent a week on this trip. Had a great time! The Barrancas del Cobre are awesome! I went to the end of the pavement at San Rafael. Was on a Heritage Classic. I stayed at Margarita's Hotel in Creel, met people from Canada and Switzerland there. The Barrancas are an international draw.
