Default What to do in Oxnard, California

Flying out to Oxnard this Thursday the 9th and renting a bike from Hawg’s heaven for a couple days. I plan on doing a little riding up or down the coast stopping at a couple bike shops for T-shirts. Anyone have any favorite places to stop at? How about places to see?

Thanks for the help.

Oxnard itself, not a whole bunch. Ventura (it's neighboring city) there is plenty of good riding.

If your looking for a ride, take a look at a map, and check out a route throughOjai, Santa paula, Lake Casitas(hwy 150). In Ojai, ya have to stop at the Deer Lodge. If you feel real venturous, you can take hwy 33 out of Ojai, and go up into the mountains. Now THAT is some beautiful riding!

I just did some of this riding, a few weeks ago, with a friend from Ventura. I had NO idea that they had that kind of great riding out that way! I thought it was all about the "coast", but boy was I wrong!

A few pics from my trip, if ya click on my link in my sig.

Have fun, and ride safe. PM me, if ya need any other info. I may be able to help. If not, I still have a friend out there, that loves to ride. Maybe I can hook ya up with him.

1HDFireman,
I live in Oxnard. Maybe I can be of some help. Oxnard will put you right between LA and Santa Barbara. Hawg Heaven is in Ventura- (talk toSteveorAndrea. Both are really cool), which as mentioned by another poster is right next to Oxnard. You have easy access to fourlocalHD shops.

1. Take the 101 North and about a 20 minute ride from Hawg Heaven is Santa Barbara HD.It is actually locatedin Carpinteria, about 10 minutes from Santa Barbara proper, and you can see it from the freeway. They have an active website, you can google Santa Barbara HD for directions. Santa Barbara is a beautiful place to see. Sundays there is a artisian type fair along the beach front. Take Cabrillo Beach Blvd exit (to the left). You can continue on the 101 north and exit State street as well, which will put you in the heart of the shopping, touristy area. Continue to ride north on 101 and you will hit some cool coastal scenery and eventually hit Solvang/Buellton which is a Danish village, again shops etc. Yet further north about 1 hour 15 from Santa Barbara is Santa Maria. Another HD dealer is there, and they too have a website. Keep going and you will hit Pismo Beach. In fact there is a big ride from Santa Paula, 126 Freeway, to Pismo on Sunday the 11th. So if you are out and about, you will see lots of bikes that day. Hawg Heaven is on Thompson Blvd. One street over is Main St. Take it towards the water for a little visit in the little shopping district, only about 4 blocks worth, but it will take you to the 101 North.
You may also want to see the Ventura Harbor beach park area as well.

2. If you take the 101 South from Hawg Heaven, you willroll back through Oxnard and into Camarillo.
This is the Ventura HD shop- even though they are in Camarillo- check their website. Keep going south one exit and take Las Posas. Go Right and you will roll thru some of the nations finest strawberry producing land, ending up at the Pacific Coast Hwy. Take that south and you will be have a little scenic ride along the coast for about 15 mintues to "Neptunes Net". There will be plenty of bikes out there, you can't miss it. It is on the left. Further on down the PCH you will run into Santa Monica, you can stop at there, or roll into town and find Bartel's HD, again website. I would turn back at thatpoint, unless you want to sample some of LA's traffic. If you dont decide to take Las Posas to the PCH. Continue up the Conejo Grade, and into Newbury Park. You can then take the 23 Filmore exit, and ride that connector to Simi Valley Harley- you guessed it they have a website.

Well there you have an easy itinerary. I tend to ride north. LA traffic is not the way to spend a day on the HD. As mentioned you can find your way from Ventura to Hwy 33 and ride up to Ojai and Lake Casitas. Talk to Steve at Hawg Heaven, talk to the guys at the HD shops. The weather here is perfect for riding right now. There will be lots of folks out there. I dont know if I have the kitchen pass to ride this weekend. Tentative plans were to roll up to the Pismo run. Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me and I can give you some details, and answer any questions. [sm=deal.gif]

Awsome. Thanks. We have enough traffic here on the East Coast, I think I will head North. I have a lot of respect for the Patriot Guard Riders. I don't think I have enough restraint to do what you do!
Ride safe and thanks again.

You could always go to the Rock Store as well. 101 South to Malibu Canyon rd, turn right on Malibu canyon. take to Mulholland Hwy and turn right on Mullholland Hwy it will be down on your left side a few miles. It is closed on weekdays, but a neat place to visit anyway. There is always Angeles Crest Hwy as well...

itznin-
I am flying out tomorrow (Thursday) and picking up the bike (Ultra) on Friday morning. I rented the bike for 2.5 days. Taking it back Sunday around noon. My wife is taking some kind of class, so I may be hauling her girlfriend around.

Where are you staying?

Sounds like a plan in the making.
