Default Lane Spliting in California

It's legal here, but I was wondering if anyone ever hit sombodys mirror while doing it. I was trying to split past an F150
doing 15 MPH a while ago, and the driver just did not want to let me through. Guy had a big HD logo in his rear window, so I thought
her would let me thru. But No. I finally got an opportunity to get by, but he tried to close me in again, my mirror hit his.
No damage, just both mirrors moved about 3 inches.

I know I have. As I have stated in the past people like that used to get thier mirrors knocked off thier vehicles with my fist. I have also had plenty of times where I have just grazed mirrors and caused no damage. I don't know what it is, but a lot of people jsut don't wanna move over an inch or two, even when they have the space. IF you ride a bike here and split lanes Johnny, get used to it.

I've had many close calls, but never tagged a mirror (yet).

Yea your right Anubisss, but being that the guy had Harley written all over his truck, I thought for sure he would
open up the lane for me. The guy turned out to be a Judas. There's just not enough love on the Southern California
super slabs these days.

I've clipped a few mirrors. Splitting lanes is easy on the Sporty but it's a bitch on the Road King!

Just gotta time it right. Sometimes you have to back off and wait. The mirrors are just there to tell you that you're getting too bold

I did it in Ca for 2 years every day, 45 mi each way. I did clip a mirror once, being the non pro that I am, and I've heard people say they didn't want those bikes going in between, and it should be against the law, and some people would crowd the line or even go over the line. I once had to stop with my foot down in jammed traffic within 1 inch of a bus wheel. Another time a woman pulled in front of me every time I tried to go by. I couldn't believe it. Being a gentleman I let her keep all her windows intact and waved with a finger up against her face as I went by.
99% though are fine, and it should be legal in all states. The guys who give it a bad name are those who go 75 when everyone else is going 40; you know, the guys who are tilted forward with their neck strained backward.
