In Texas, we had the "helmet law"...but it wasn't entireley enforceable since you could provide proof of ins., a MSC certificate, and $5.50 and get a sticker to put on your plate exempting you from
wearing a bucket.
However, I had my ins. car, my bucket, my MSC certificate card, AND the app. form for the sticker in my bag, and I still got a tick'y. (was dismissed).
Go to court and see what happens. If the officer doesn't show you get off on everything. I had a non DOT helmet ticket and the officer did not show. There I was in the court room with my full face DOT helmet. I really try not to cross over the double yellow as they will write your for that in a second. Good luck.
