recommendations for best hotel? still a lot of rooms available at all it seems
It's been a few years since I have been and stayed in one of the hotels. In the past, we have always stayed at the Colorado Bellle and once at the Flamingo (now called something else). The former Flamingo had tiny room, the Colorado Belle's room were larger, the food better and the buffet seems pretty good. Plus the parking lot of the Belle has a lot of vendors.
It seems the most of the action goes on at that end of town. Even a few years ago all the room were the same price due to the agency putting on the event. Rooms were right at $200 a night which is just crazy considerng they are $29 a night any other time. But you gotta pay for that eveent.
A few people say there are lots of rooms left, you might try calling the hotels directly and see what you can do. You just might get a better rate.
Just do a search for hotels in Laughlin. I would rather stay where the action is than up at Harrah's. Harrah's probably has a little nicer rooms, but then you gota drive down to where all the vendors are or walk in the heat. But you used to be able to carry alcohol drinks as long as they were not in glass container. Not sure if they still allow that or not. That does make the walking a little easier, well until you fall down anyway. he he he
Riding out on the 20th, gonna spend the whole week there.
Wonder how it will be this year, room packages still available in all the hotels, you have to go thru Dalcon now but they are considerable less expensive than previous years.
The event package, which is completely worthless is 10 dollars cheaper this year, hmmm.
Family lives in Ft Mohave, they say that 30-40% less vendor spaces reserved at this time.
The Aquarius Casino hasd a letter on their website signed by the GM of the hotel, the Mayor of Laughlin and the LVPD Chief. The letter says they are all dedicated to customer service blah blah blah.
Sturgis po-po was in Laughlin late last year telling the Chamber of Commerce how to run an event with a low profile pro active involvement by the law and not to kill the goose that lays the golden egg
As you know, Nevada police have been using the event for training. This has been going on for years, way before the anomolie at Harrah's in '02.
Many of you may remember the town lockdowns and traffic mess of the late 90's.
That was taken care of by the state of AZ telling NV that if they try to ever block the bridge again that the National guard will be called up to restore the peoples right to free travel. Az gets it, Bullhead and the area need the $$.
Anyway, CYA there, looks like it may be different and nice this year.

My son and I are leaving Thursday morning from Victorville. Of course most anybody coming from the south will be passing by my digs en route. Should be a nice representation of forum members on the I-15. Too bad the forum members riding that day couldn't meet up at the HD dealer in Victorville. Be kind of cool to see some bros in other than a "post".
I am not our route planner so I don't know we are actually going to hit the 15. I am sure you can hook up with others, jsut post up that you want to in this thread. We are going down old Route 66 as far as we possibly can in order to stay off of the super slab. I should be leaving from the westside around 6 or 7 am.
