Another thing you might want to consider if you're looking for a used bike, is to find one from out of state. My son found a 2000 dyna with 6000 miles on it in Michigan. The guy accepted $6000 so we drove back there in my pick up last April and picked it up. If you do that, just remember that Calif requires used bikes to have 7500 miles on them in order to register them here. My son had to ride his around with the Michigan plates until he had enough miles to register the bike. Shipping runs around $900, in case you're interested.
Hahaha. True, riding in the bay area is a year round thing. I guess I should have phrased it differently. What I meant was that I figured more people would buy new bikes during the warmer months than Nov-Feb, since they would be more likely to use them in warmer weather.
I want a 2013 street bob. It is the cheapest big twin and I like the black motor. Since the 2012's have an integrated riser built into the upper triple tree I would prefer to not buy that one. I have also been searching the classifieds here, craigslist, cycletrader, and ebay for used bikes. My ideal would be to get 2006-up street bob so I can save some coin, but a lot of them are nearly the price of new.
I love my Dyna. The Street Bob is a great bike. If you go used let me suggest you buy a 2007 or later Dyna. The '06s had inner primary bearing problems and stator problems.
If you have your heart set on a 2013 Street Bob, then visit each dealer and ask them flat out what they'll do for you in terms of out the door price plus maybe throwing in some maintenance or discount on parts. I hit up each dealer in the Bay Area when I bought mine. Some would deal, others wouldn't so much. By the time I talked to McGuire's, every dealer knew about some guy looking for a blue FXDL.
Thanks for the input everyone. So far I have gone to 3 dealers (not McGuires yet), and 2 dealers more or less said that the "price on the tag is the price" and weren't willing to negotiate. Another is willing to negotiate, and said if they weren't able get me a 2013 for the price I want, they would try to source a 2012 (which I hate the integrated risers). After more thinking though, I will most likely go used since I can hopefully get the bike set up the way I want for below my budget. Even though the 2013 street bob is nice, after buying a 2013 I would have no cash left for mods.
harley_jeff: You make a good point on the 07 and up. Plus it would be a 96" too.
I got my 2012 883 at Oakland Harley, but if your looking for used last week I saw a lot of nice bikes at the Livermore dealership.
I live out in Newark my self so close ones are Oakland or San Jose. For my Choices i prefer the San Jose shop for service department they are way friendlier, but the sales guys are way better at Oakland.
I second this. I did the leg/phone work, called and visited Oakland, Livermore and Walnut Creek. Got what I wanted, way under their tag price OTD, with a helmet thrown in.
McGuire's all the way.

McGuires is still the one shop I didn't visit. I ended up going used. I found a 2006 Street Bob with wide glide front end for $8500, with only 7300 miles on it. I figure that even with doing the IPB and Stator I would have saved a ton over new. Although I would rather have an 07 or newer (especially brand new!), my desire to save some money outweighed that.
dudley perkins will hook u up fat or so will walnut creek or if neither of those work the next best deal i heard was eagles nest out in the valley. i personally bought 2 bikes from walnut creek and they took a total of 4k off the end price and threw in a 10 or 20 percent discount (i forget which) on anything bought through them for a 1 time purchase (just the day i bought the bikes )
I bought last August. Did my research on the IPad. If you pull up dealerships & look at their Pre-Owned bikes you may just find what your looking for at a great price. I live up by Sacramento. So theres Sacramento Harley, Folsom Harley, & Ironstead in Vacaville. Was just up in Carson City Nevada last weekend, man they have a ton of new & used scooters.
I bought my used. Got the dealer down $2,300 off their asking price. Bike was like brand new. Harley's are expensive toys, keep looking till you find one you can't live without. Good luck.
