Default Replacing the jiffy stand

I used the $75 voucher that I received from HD to purchase the optional jiffy stand (50000264). I finally got around to taking a look at installing it.
The service manual tells you to remove the sensor and the entire assembly by removing the screws circled in red. There are three screws but my pic only shows two.

I was thinking of inserting coins into the spring and removing the pin circled in green instead of following the instructions in the manual to remove the entire assembly.
Just curious to see what procedure other folks may have used to replace the jiffy stand.

Thanks!

I removed the 3 bolts and the sensor to remove the entire assembly. Stretching that spring was a bi*ch, even on the bench. I couldn't get enough coins/washers in it to spread it sufficiently for an easy install. I used a set of Vise-Grips to pull it into place

Thanks for the info. I had a feeling it might be a bit of a challenge. I may whimp out and have the dealer install the jiffy stand when I get around to having the infotainment recall done on my 21 PAS.

Thanks!!!

Same here, removed assembly from bike for a disassembly and clean/lube. Washers in the spring trick was ineffective, but instead levered the spring on with a screwdriver while in the vise. Note the orientation of the spring hooks as supposed to face rearward when stand down.

I ended up removing the assembly from the bike as well. Simple to take off and put back on. I originally tried to make the jiffy stand change by not removing the assembly. Wasn’t working as I had hoped, so pulled the assembly. I should have just pulled the assembly to begin with.

I was able to use the quarter trick. I used 6 or 7 quarters with the jiffy stand in the ‘down’ position. I don’t recall whether it was 6 or 7. Basically I inserted quarters until I couldn’t get anymore in. I then moved the stand to the ‘up’ position and had just enough length to remove the spring and reinstall it using my fingers.

What you described is what I was hoping to accomplish without removing the complete assembly. But obviously you can’t fully raise the jiffy stand when the bike is on the center stand. I plan on removing the complete assembly and trying the same technique that you used.

Thanks!!!

I did mine by only removing the center bolt and filling the spring with washers. After that it came off and on pretty easily. No need to remove the whole assembly.

I had a buddy hold the bike up while swapping the stands. Make sure the stand is fully extended before trying to put washers or quarters in the spring.

Looks like it only has a bigger foot.

Identical except for the bigger foot.
