Wasn't that where the clutch cable clamp was mounted to the frame? (At least I think it was that way on my 78FXE) The part numbers for the 78FXE should be
2585 - Screw 8-32x5/16 Pozidriv Pan head
7115 - Lockwasher No. 8 int tooth (looks like a star washer in the catalog
10059 - Clamp Clutch cable OR 38712-68 - Clamp, clutch cable (at frame front)

Thanks for the quick reply. Couldn't remember, but since I am going to use a tank shift and not my mousetrap (at least at thie juncture) it will not be needed. And I located the clamp and put it with my mousetrap set up.

Im pretty sure that tab is used for my timer cable on my 62. What did they repurpose it to in 65? 66 has no tab, seems like it wouldn't work for a mousetrap.

My '65 has that also. Unused. Does not look like it has anything to do with mousetrap. Prob left over from timer cable era as hellonewman says.

Yes looking at my pics of taking the bike apart, there is no need for it for use with the mousetrap assembly. But for some reason I have the screw and the clamp. I am thinking that maybe I used it to secure the speedo cable as it came down the left downtube. At any rate it will stay unused since the clamp holding the speedo cable at the top of the cases securely holds that cable in place.

Don't know how you gents in the high heat area of the country handle triple digit weather. If I am riding in it that is one thing (gotta get across Nevada), but working in my garage is quite somethging else. Thursday 101, Friday 106, today 104 and it looks like all the way through Wed/Thu of next week the same. By Friday it is supposed to drop to the low 90s. I am good to about 95 then I have to call it quits. Heat sure bothers me more than it did some 20 years ago.

Got my 3-1/2 gallon tanks cleaned out and sealed with RedKote. Fit them to the frame to make sure the wiring would not hinder anything on the back side of the tanks where the tanks fit to the frame.

Found a shop near me that can rebuild the Delco Remy starter. Should be ready next week. I think I had all the required parts for the rebuild.

Generator is being serviced by a guy nameed Rich Brown out of CT. He advertizes in the AMCA magazine and has excellent reviews.

No pics (yet) but got the hoses on the back of the inner primary on and the inner primary bolted in place (after changing out to the correct cad plated lower motor mount bolts, adding my skid plate while I was doing that and using the nyloc nuts as well).

And I actually think I got the last of the parts that I needed parkerizing sent in the mail.

Still have some pieces that need cad plating (mostly saddlebag components) and a couple of pieces that need chroming.

At this point in time the sidecar is relegated to the back burners.

Measurements for painting 5 gallon tanks

From OP 65 FLH

And measurement for 3-1/2 gallon tanks (OP as well)

And another version of the 3-1/2 gallon tanks, just cleaned up a bit
