Howdy people.....Was going through some very old pics of mine and ran across my first hog! I was 16, it was summer and I had a couple of hundred saved and bought a dismantled dresser from an "old" guy. He had taken everything on it apart and it was in 17-bushel baskets! Over a few days I got it all home. My old man almost threw it all out including me......I started hanging around the Harley shop (wood frame, wood floor) . The guys let me use tools and the trash pile out back....I was kind of their mascot.
So, I learned mechanics on this. When it was done it was "cool", leaked oil, but it was mine. When I was done it had a 1/4" rake, and the motor was something else. It was 86" .... Flat head flywheels reamed for "modern" crank pin and had Venolia pistons. The guys did all the engine work. for a carb it had a reamed-out Linkert. That was back around 1966! It was a bear to start! Only have one picture but here it is, the camera was a plastic Kodak that used 165 film ! To this day, I have the HYDRAULIC pushrods from it (only year Harley used them) and the original ignition switch. OH, yeah. That's a Sportster front end on it , and a peanut tank.
