Default '54 panhead oil cover replacement

Trying to install a remote filter, and when I put the fitting for the oil return line from the pump to the filter the threads in the cover (1/8" NPT female I believe) felt stripped. It seems to be tight but not taking a chance. Got enough oil problems as it is.

So, I'm replacing the oil pump cover. Anything of any issue I need to know? It looks and sounds simple (I've read a couple scenarios).

Any info from those experienced would be appreciated.

Straight forward as you say.

1 Use a new gasket

2. Remember torque sequence on nuts is measured in inch pounds.

3. After reconnecting lines, just make sure your have oil returning to the tank after start up. Sometimes air gets in the lines.
