Default Valve cover removal

Panheads are really scarse around here and people who own them generally put them on display and you can't talk to them. I always wanted one, but don't know if that'll ever happen...

From all the photos I've seen, looks impossible to remove the rear valve cover because of the frame rail. What do you do, unbolt the head and slide it out as an assembly?

Sounds like a lot of posers and not riders. That being said...you cannot get the valve cover off the rear head unless you either pull the motor or take off the head.

About the only reason to pull the cover would be to replace the gasket. Seen guys replace the rear gasket on the rear cover w/o removing the head tho. Think it is even in a tech tip book.

Yeah, you're on target there. There are a few real riders, but like myself, they keep to themselves.

I figured that was the deal - just something I've been curious about for a long time. Thank you very much.
