Default Pogo Seat Question

Okay guys. I just started a restore on a 1958 Panhead frame. It would seem that whoever owned the bike before used putty to cover all of the weld joints. I am assuming that they did this to give it a more custom look? I am taking all that off when it goes to sand blast here soon. But to my question. The hole in the frame for the pogo has been welded up Top and bottom. I plan to reinstall the pogo and seat. I have opened up the top hole to the size of the bushing but I have noticed in the pictures of the pogo post that I have seen on Ebay (part was missing from my build) that it would appear that the hole in the bottom of the frame would be 3/8' or whatever sive the bolt is on the bottom of the spring?

Does this make sense? Can anyone tell me if I will need to open the lower hole same as the top of just large enough to accomodate the bolt>

Hole needs to be just large enough for the threaded stud end of the seat post to fit through.

If I'm not mistaken, the bottom of the post mounted in a removable plate that had the hole drilled and threaded for the post. This plate used 2 bolt's to mount to the bottom of the frame.I'm not sure about the swingarm model's but,a few of my ridgid frame's had them.A lot of people welded them up,which was a mistake, moisture caused the bottom of the seat post to rot out and crack or break.

The bottom hole is flat on two sides to corespond to the flats on the seat post. This is to keep it from twisting. The bottom is not removable.

Yes it is fixed in place. Have 49 and 65 (both original frames...rigid and swingarm)

Thanks guys. There are two bolt holes in the frame one on either side of the center post. From what I am understanding the stud on the bottom of the seat post will go through the frame and I am assuming the two bolt holes on either side are for a skid plate?

Yep thats were the skid plate mounts. The front is bolted to the bottom of the front motor mount.
