Default 1951 police special

Hey there...
Please forgive my ignorance but I'm brand new here. I'm here for a computer illiterate friend so I'm typing messages for him. Although I plan on staying here for myself too.
He's about to make a purchase of a 1951 HD police edition that's been restored. Problem is he doesn't know to what extent it's been restored. Does anybody know anything about these and their value, assuming it's restored properly with genuine parts...etc??? Or am I even in the right forum?

I wish I could tell you however the only way is a complete pre buy inspection from some one who has the individual experiance. You may want to post for such a person in your location. It is worth spending the money for this to insure you are actually getting what you are paying for.

Can you post any pictures of it? If so that would help. A good source for information is Bruce Palmer's 'how to restore a harley davidson.' Depending on how many hd parts for that year will determine the price. The model of the bike doesn't make a big difference to the value. A lot of, but not all police departments purchased E or EL models. They were lower compression and easier to start.
