Hey thanks Speedy. You've given me some valuable info. I think I might have a "65 cover because I noticed an extra port on lower left side that appears to have been epoxied up. Does that sound right? I also read about the difference between FLH and FLHF. Guess there is no way of telling for sure. Thanks again. I'll try to get a close up picture of cover. Looks like I'll be hunting for a '57 cam cover!

57PAN, I don’t think you have a 1965 cover. Or a 1966–69 cover. I still think FilthyLucre may be correct about your cover being a stock one that was ground down. Notice the four black lines I’ve drawn below:

1. The vertical line at the left indicates where a hole would be for gear cover oil passage bolt #25218-63 if it was a 1965 cover.
2. The two vertical lines at the right indicate the generator mounting bolt holes and they are both originally 5/16" diameter for 1958 and later covers. But covers for 1957 and earlier Panheads originally have 1/4" holes. Some people increase the 1957 and earlier hole size to 5/16" but if your cover has 1/4" holes then it's probably a 1957 or earlier cover.
3. The horizontal line indicates the area where there's extra material on 1966-69 covers and also on 1965 covers. But your cover hasn't got that extra material.
4. And I think there may be two metal locating dowels sticking through holes in your cover. But you'll notice there are no dowel holes on the outside of the 1966-69 cover. And I don't think there are any dowel holes on the outside of a 1965 cover either. Eric
