I recently picked up a new set of cylinders for my 49 Pan. What has me puzzled is that the new cylinders have a hole near the bottom of the inside of each of the cylinders.
I have in my possession two sets of old cylinders, one set being original to the engine, and none of these cylinders have a hole in the bottom of the bore of them.
After looking at the shop manual, it appears that these cylinders are for a later model Panhead engine. My question is, Will these cylinders work on my 49?
Yes those jugs are for 55 and later models and will work just fine on your 49. The other way around (late cases and early jugs) would require some work to make right.
