Default Engine main seal?

My '62 Pan is leaking oil from theleft side (primary side) crank caseseal. What's involved in replacingthat seal? With the primary off I can see what appears to be around nut with twosmall holes 180 degrees apart.Guess I need some type of tool for that? Is there a specialoil seal puller that I'm going to need?

Default RE: Engine main seal?

Well the round nut is the compensating sprocket nut, that will have to come off as well as the clutch and hub to get the inner primary off. Best thing to do would be to get a shop manual before you do anything so you can see if you're up to the job. Keep in mind also that pans do drip oil out of the primary, the front chain oiler is a constant loss system.
