Default got a question

So was having problems with a mid to high speed sputter/ miss. had recently changed jets in s&s super E, bike ran good after that. decided to check points and timing. so retimed to the book. timing mark in center of hole, advanced the point cam all the way, used a test light to adjust and locked down the plate. took bike out and high speed miss. brought back and rechecked timing, still on to the 'book'. decided to retard the plate a bit . took her back out and miss went away, all is good. power back and all. might try messing with the plate some more. but anyway got a question about the points. it's a 56 top end with std cases. two bolt aftermarket timer. thinking newer than 65! the point base has an alignment / pivot pin on the bottom and there is a hole in the advance plate for it. all the points I have seen up to 65 looks like a two piece and the pivot pin would be mounted on the plate. might do better to post in shovel section, I don't know. any way any thoughts on these points, anyone?

first look at it this way the SS carb on a pan is like a 4 barrel on a 6 cylinder

tuning it is a challenge -- i would add a turbulator to the intake it will cut back some of the air volume and help with the intake track tuning you dont have much of with that set up -- do a serch on the turbo and see what it is -- jz

I am familiar with the turbolators. I used one on my 72 Sporty. Might have to try one on this carb. I'm up at a mile in elevation here, so nothing makes the best power here. plugs are a dark brown which is o.k., because if I ever go down in elevation at least it wouldn't be too lean.
