Well, after putting a few miles on it, I can see why the drum brakes and 6v electrics area popular upgrades if you ride it, lol

True. But. For almost $2000.00 to find out the correct outer primary cover is a little steep for me. http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...n=new&sr=&qid=

For that price why is that book not in reprint? At least an e-book.

Ouch!..FYI, those prices are/were based on the the idea that Bruce was not going to write an upgrade to his original book. There have been 2 printing of his book and that Amazon crap is someone's pipedream and speculation. He is currently working on the upgrade and I would assume it will somewhere around what I paid for my 2 copies...50-75 US dollars (about same price as a factory service manual)

And PHXbiker, if you get interested in selling the 49 outer, please keep me in mine. I am currently restoring a 49 back to as close to factory as I can. Drum brakes are interesting...as you have found. Takes much more stopping distance. I have learned to provide a lot more stopping sapce in front of me.

The outer cover on the 62 is original...I have a 64FL, everything original except one repaint, seat recovered, that I ride along with a 66fl. The outer cover is the exact same as on the 62FLH pictured in this thread.

Beautiful machine. I'd give her a little TLC and ride her as is.

That is what I thought also. I have a 1964 FL all original. I wondered how panz4ever could tell that the outer primary cover was not original 1962 but a 1949 cover from that picture. Very dark on that side. But. Who am I to disagree with panz4ever?
