does anyone know about std panheads
So I bought a bike its got an std panhead in it. I love the motor its fast as **** I was looking for some history on the motor and company. Its got four spark plugs dont know why also has jims gears and andrews cams. Cant find anything on it thanks for the help
All it takes is a simple google search. STD does not make gears ,cams, pistons, lifters, fly wheels, connecting rods, etc. So. The engine is conglomeration of after market parts.

If I remember right std started making performance engine cases, Late 70's early 80's I think, then heads"pan" with hard seats and steel valve guides cuse the old pans had bronze seats and bronze guides which weren't holding up with the new "at the time" unleaded fuels. Also these heads had the newer shovel style exhaust pipe mounting set ups. Then the 2 plug heads too. A positive up-grade for a performance minded engine build. I wonder if the motor is stroked? We used to build some mean engines with 80" flywheels, longer rods an cylinder plates, big valves,Andrews cams, etc. HOO YA! any way cool pan. Killer
Oh yea, Kick start only-Electric starters didn't hold up for poop.
They use a Shovel-style "Y" manifold as well.
We ran a set of the Evo oval-port castings on our AHDRA Modified Class bike.
