I had posted earlier about stains that developed on my cam cover. Turns out they're oil leak stains. Yesterday I took the cam cover off, and will replace the gasket (hopefully that will stop further leaks). Alas, the cam cover is completely stained with oil. It just looks plain awful. I soaked in in a pan full of degreaser overnight, the thing didn't budge. Tried S100, didn't budge. I'm inclined to think that due to the coarse matte paint Harley used on the cam cover for this model and year, I'm just gonna have to sand it a little and paint over it.
I notice that http://www.colorrite.com sells motorcycle paint in aerosol form. I was considering getting an 11oz can and spraying the cam cover. I'm just not very experienced in this area so I would appreciate any tips, seeing how removing the oil stains has proven impossible.
